The Preschool Place and Kindergarten

Today we welcomed Dr. Ryan Scally of Bridgewater Dental Associates, PC into the classroom to teach students about the importance of good dental hygiene. Dr. Scally explained how sugary foods and drinks lead to cavities and showed students the different tools used to care for your teeth. After reading a story and playing a game, Dr. Scally let students try out his fun dental props!
All around us, the leaves are changing into beautiful colors. 4s students went outside to find the perfect leaf to use as inspiration for creating a delicious fall treats. Students used cookie cutters to create various leaf shapes before painting them with butter and cinnamon sugar. It was a perfect snack to celebrate the changing seasons!
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the culture, the traditions, and the contributions made to our country by Hispanics. Mrs. Mahoney, originally from Colombia, gave a special presentation about the cacao tree and chocolate. Students had a chance to smell cacao beans, grind them, and taste delicious chocolate.
Kindergarteners recently read “Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses,” by Kimberly and James Dean, which is centered around how a positive outlook can change a bad day into a good one. After reading the story, Kindergarteners made their own “magic sunglasses” to remind themselves that a positive attitude lives within us all. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!
This week, 3s students are learning about one of fall’s delicious fruits, apples! The children had a chance to go “apple picking” outside, measure using apples, play several apple sorting games, and do a STEM challenge where they taste tested different apple varieties and graphed the results. Incorporating a multisensory approach when learning aides retention and keeps students engaged.
